Sony da5300es issues (1 Viewer)

I have a sony da53000es receiver hooked up to my tv via hdmi and a cable box and play station hooked into the receiver via hdmi. Everything works except nothing happens when you turn the receiver on unless you first go to another input on the receiver and then go back to the input you want to use. I can't understand why you have to change the input and then go back to the original input in order to get a picture or sound. It is really annoying and I can't seem to figure it out. Any advice?
