After toggling back and forth for weeks now, I think thats the setup I want. Anyone have any opinions? I think the amp is overkill for the speakers, but at least I have room to upgrade the speakers later!:)
Anyone see a detriment to using this amp with this setup?

Opinions appreciated

Thanks in Advance.

I don't think it would be a problem, if you don't like the sound at 1st you can tweak it to your liking.

I agree the receiver outclasses your speakers but it makes a good entry point for the upgrade spiral :)

Bummer folks. I cant use this receiver. It will not fit the the wall unit we just bought. The WAF was contingent on it sitting in the unit. Im so bummed. I was ready to order for 590 shipped to my house. That was just a sick deal.
Thinking of scaling back to and Onkyo SR700. I know its a big step back, but can anyone offer opinions on this?:frowning:

Ok I think I got the FINAL finalists!

BTW, I am really getting confused with the array of choices.
I narrowed it down to these 2

Sony STRDA2ES:
I like the fact that I can "tune" it for my gear. I originally wanted the 4ES but cant fit in my wall unit. WAF went out the window with that.I have read the the 2ES may be a rebadged DB which would be a negative point.

Onkyo TX-SR700
Dont know much about this unit, but have read favorable reviews.

either one will be mated to JBL NSP1, and SA-WM40 sub (modded)

I really need someone with experience here to step up and give me some solid advice. I know Ive posted a few times, but it really, really is the last 2 choices for my budget and space restraints.

I want to make sure I make the BEST decision seeing how I will be ordering online and dont want to deal with the hassle of returning in case I am not satisfied.
My use will be about 70/30 HT/music.

Your help is needed and appreciated.

The Sony 2ES is the STR-DB1080 outside Nth America. Don't let that turn you off - it is well constructed. I'm using mine as a semi prepro (main channels driven by stereo system) as I love the configurability.

I have made it shutdown once in this config but that was when trying to reproduce lifelike SPLs for the opening TopGun sequences with the receiver poorly ventilated.

Audition the 2 receivers thoroughly before making your final choice.

2 places were competing for a deal:

Sammans was sending it to me for 555 plus shipping which ended up at just under 590. JandR was going for 599 shipped. Helluva deal in my opinion. I just wish I had the space to accomodate this beast. I have auditioned both the SR700 and the DA2ES (only a bit) considering the fact that I can fine tune much more with the Sony, I opted for the DA2ES. BTW, price from sammans shipped: 410. Once again a sweet deal I think.
