    Hi,

I just got my Sony 4es and am seting it up.

    A couple of questions.

Was there a seperate manual for the remote.
This remote seem totally counter intuitive.
But I have to figure it our first before I try and program my
    pronto.

    (I bought this receiver used)
Is there is supposed to be a seperate manual for the remtote.. Anyware I
can get this online or any helpful soul willing to scan it and
    email to me?

Secondly. I don't seem to be able to get the second room audio
to work. Anything I am missing here.
In the manual it says something about press 2nd rm Power. I don't see
    anything Like that.

I have an amp hooked up to the second room outputs and the amp
    is turned on!

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Sunil

Yes, there is a separate manual for the remote control. You can download it from Sony here. You can search for other Sony manuals here.

The remote is quite counter-intuitive, but once you have it figured out, it works well, for the most part.

To activate the 2nd room, you first need to change the remote's setup to control the second room. Press the "RM setup" button, scroll down to and choose "command mode". Scroll down to and choose 2nd room. Let the remote turn off (few seconds). Now it will control the 2nd room. Press the remote's power button or pick a source by pressing "function" and choosing a source. You will notice a message in the receiver's display, and a little orange light called "2nd room" next to the speaker switch will turn on. Now you'll have to turn up the volume (for 2nd room) using the remote, since it defaults to the minimum. As long as you selected a source that is playing, you should now hear sound.

Also note that the reciever will only play an analog source thru the 2nd room outputs. It will not work with a digital source.

Yeah that remote is totally NOT user friendly. I think they addressed that w/ the 7ES but I'm not 100% sure. Either way it's just a fancy LCD remote that's not really practical unless you like pressing like 5 buttons to get one thing working.

Thanks again all for the help

I finally managed to get the tuner output to the second
    room audio.

I'm not sure how I'm going to explain to my wife how
to start up the second room audio or adjust the volume in the second room.

Now to try and figure out all the speaker settings.
Right now all I've done is speaker sizing and locations.
Anyone have a faq on doing th eintial setup of
    the speakers/eq.
