Sony 333es 5.1 Question (1 Viewer)

OK, I am confused here.
When viewing a DVD in 5.1 mode, my receiver shows
"Dolby Digital [3/2]" on the screen. Is that 5.1?
There is also a 5.1 button on the reciever. When i push that, the sound is drastically lowered and i have to turn the volume up over half way to get optimum sounds.
Does anyone that has this receiver know if I have to push the 5.1 button everytime i watch a DVD in 5.1 or is it auto.

Yes, 3/2 means 5.1. The 5.1 button selects the 5.1 inputs on the rear of the receiver. Don't use it.

Thanks alot, I wasnt to sure.
So, I dont need to plug in RCA's from the DVD 5.1 to 333 5.1 if I am using TIOS? The 5.1 is going through that, right?

Josh,
You are correct, you do not need to connect the 5.1 analog jacks on the dvd player to the 5.1 input jacks on the 333es, just the Toslink cable to the optical digital input on the receiver.
