    - thought I'd try and put a little music compilation together with songs about movies. Haven't got too many titles in mind though, and wondered if anyone has any suggestions to add to the following titles :

"Movies is magic" by Brian Wilson; "If you could read my mind" by Gordon Lightfoot; "Valentino" (On Taco's AFTER 8 album, unfortunately, not available on cd); "Saturday Night at the Movies" by Drifters; "Western Movies" by the Olympics.

Any suggestions? 10 cc had some appropriate songs but I can't think of the titles? Thanks!

    Act Naturally
Ringo sang it, so did Buck Owens.
"They're gonna put me in the movies,
They're gonna make a big star outta me..."

The heavy metal band Iced Earth has an album called Horror Show which, I believe, is all about horror movies.

There was a pop tune a couple of years ago called "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

Well, Dire Straits' Making Movies album is about, eh, making movies, I forget which song contains the line though. Also the opening song to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Science Fiction Double Feature is movie related. Bowie's Cracked Actor is another example (I had to get a Bowie reference in somehow [IMG]).

This is going a little further afield...
Happy Rhodes has a song called "Roy" which is inspired by Roy Batty, the Rutger Hauer character in Blade Runner. Then there's "Down Down" inspired by The Hunt for Red October. She also has songs inspired by Romeo + Juliet (Baz Luhrmann's) and Last of the Mohicans but I can't remember what they are.
Kate Bush has a song called "Infant Kiss" which is directly based on The Innocents. She wrote her song "Delius" based on the memory of seeing Ken Russell's Song of Summer. And of course, there's the album and the song "The Red Shoes."

I love the Me First And The Gimme Gimme's cover of Science Fiction Double Feature from the album Are A Drag. The whole album is just covers of show tunes, punkified.

Thanks! Lots of new tunes for me to track down, and a few I'd forgotten about.

I remembered another oldie today - SAD MOVIES (always make me cry); and by total coincidence picked up a 2001 issue Cd of Nancy Sinatra called California Girl, which contains a version of HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD.

How about Bertie Higgins' 1982 pop hit Key Largo, off the album Just Another Day in Paradise?
(No, I don't have the album or even really like the song that much, but I remembered it.)
    Key Largo lyrics:
    Wrapped around each other
    Lying in each other's arms
    That first cold winter together
Trying so hard to stay warm
    Watching those old movies
    Falling in love so desperately
    Honey I was your hero
And you were my leading lady
    Chorus:
    We had it all
    Just like Bogie and Bacall
Starring in our own late, late show
    Sailing away to Key Largo
    Honey can't you remember
    We played all the parts
    That sweet scene of surrender
When you gave me your heart
Please say you will...play it again
    Cause I love you still
Baby this can't be the end
    Chorus
    Here's lookin at you kid
Missing all the things we did
We can find it once again, I know
Just like they did in Key Largo
    Chorus
