In case you all tried to forget, after several bumps in release, it looks like the "sequel" (with none of the original cast, with the exception of Ben Stein) now will be released on Feb 18, 2005. I saw a trailer on Access Hollywood today, and the closest thing to a similar character was another dog who looked a lot like Milo, but is named Otis (how's that for original thinking?).

I read some online interview where the budget was in excess of $100M. If this gets dumped in Feb after being pushed back from the summer/fall of 2004, does anybody expect New Line to make their money back? As far as I'm concerned, the windfall on the LOTR trilogy will cushion the blow of many disasters for years to come.

Well I *had* been trying to block this from my memory, so thank YOU so much for bringing it up, Keith. ;)

I loved THE MASK. I don't think I could be LESS interested in this "sequel". I'm going to hazard a guess that it's going to be a VERY small window between the theatrical release and the DVD. :)

That's gotta be wrong. The trailer looks like the movie was made for local cable access. Complete with aweful CGI and just about everything else.

If it's correct then the only explaination is the director ran away with about $99 million dollars ;)

The first time I saw the trailer for this (before ROTK, I think), people in the theater actually booed it. I've occasionally seen trailers that make people groan, but never before outright booing a trailer :)

The sad thing is a Jim Carrey-led sequel could have been great fun. I'd have gone to see it for sure.

With decent writers it could have easily been better than the Ace Ventura sequel was.

I just watched the trailer and I have to agree with ThomasC......Mmmmhmmm......

I disagree that it looks cheap, it looks like they spent a lot of cash on the FX....and little else such as...oh I don't know...talent?

Not good if the trailer is any indication....but I am biased, I abso-frickin-lutely hate CGI talking babies whether in film or on TV.
