like last night...I HAD to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark. I had held out for a DVD for a LONG time, and it had been like 5 years since I last saw it...
    Do I feel dirty? No.
    Cheated? No.
    Satisifed? Yes.
Yeah, it was P&S, bought in my youth when I knew no better, but sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do.

What is so sick about watching one of the greatest films ever on the most commonly found format for the said film?
Or was it sick to not hunt down the OAR copy?

If I don't have the VHS or a LD player, is it really really bad to watch a DVD 'version' of the widescreen LD? Even if I promise I'll buy the trilogy when they are out on proper DVD?
How about if I buy a copy of the VHS (so Lucas gets some money) but don't watch it?

I bought the W/S VHS version of the Indiana Jones films last year (three tapes plus bonus Young IJ) for about $24.00. While not DVD, they still provide a certain amount of enjoyment.
We're taking a cross country trip in a couple of weeks. The van we're renting has an entertainment center with a 6.5 inch TV screen. It's going to be fun showing w/s movies to a load of teenagers! No P/S for me, even on video tape!

Well you can do what I did... I got a friend of mine to pick up the trilogy on DVD when she went to Indonesia for holidays. The transfer comes straight from the LD, so if you have no LD-player and don't want to watch them on VHS, this is the best option for now.
I was surprised by how good the quality of the transfer is, and the sound as well. Of course it's not anamorphic so it looks kind of funny on my Panasonic WS TV.

I've done it, I'll do it again. Star Wars, Indian Jones, I don't feel as dirty.
