I just watched this for the first time. Starts out a little slow, but wow what a work of art. I feel this is Jane Fonda's best work and what a shame she lost the Oscar to Diane Keaton. I guess her politics might of had something to do with that. Also Douglas Slocombe should of won over Close Encounters for cinematography . Thanks Twilight Time for this fine release..

I doubt Jane's politics had much to do with her loss to Diane Keaton. Keaton had two powerhouse performances in 1977 - Annie Hall and Looking for Mr. Goodbar, the combination of which showed her real versatility.

Besides, Jane won the next year for Coming Home.

Slocombe worked on Close Encounters, too.

I saw this on a double-feature with THE TURNING POINT in a wonderful creaky old neighborhood theater. I loved both of them. TT released a beautiful blu of JULIA and I hope THE TURNING POINT is in the pipeline.

I think I did as well ... I think it was at an older (built ca 1962) indoor mall theater ... Double Features and "Dollar" theaters were the way poor me could afford to see the (not so) latest and greatest Hollywood had to offer ...
