King Conan may be dead, but another Robert E. Howard creation, the avenging Puritan Solomon Kane, is reportedly in development at New Line. Woo-hoo!
I think Gabriel Byrne would be perfect for the lead. [IMG]
    Any thoughts?

I never knew the literary background of the character but I was definitely into the Marvel comic books.

Wow, talk about Night of the Living Thread!

Six years later and Solomon Kane is finally hitting screens. James Purefoy looks suitable enough in the role though the film looks like it might suffer from familiar-itis - too many fantasy-horror films have beat this progenitor to the punch. Thoughts?

I read the script awhile back and thought it was utterly moronic and badly missed the point of the character. The reaction to the screenings so far has been pretty mixed, with most of the praise going to the grimy look of the film. I'm thinking this is probably a case in which some slick direction will elevate a poorly told story into mediocrity.

Now that the film has had a very limited run in a few US theatres, is there any word of a North American Blu-Ray/DVD release of the film?
