Mine's Christopher Reeve, and his wife Dana...

... and not because he once played The Man Of Steel.

I stand in awe at the man's determination to walk again. I'm motivated by his optimism, and it it makes my heart swell to know that Dana has stood by him throughout his entire ordeal.

Too often in life we simply give-up or quit when we encouter the simplest of problems, and the smallest obstacles. Chris & Dana stand as a testament to the other end of the spectrum, with faith, courage, love and hope.

    So, who's your hero?

    Moe.

Kepler. (Yeah, that Kepler.) Not only did he contribute to the scientific enlightenment of our age, but he spent almost his entire life pursuing a theory that he liked just because it he found it compelling and thought, therefore, that "it MUST be true." He made proving this theory his dream, his life's goal, and thought it would be the crowning achievement of his legacy. As an old man, when he finally had the data and wherewithall to prove/disprove his cherished theory, he discovered, much to his dismay, that it was completely wrong.

What did he do? Did he fudge the facts and data to fit his predictions? Did he turn a blind eye to the Scientific Method and declare success? No, he simply dismissed his theory for the bogosity it was and eased into retirement.

Although his regret was profound, he chose to serve knowledge rather than glory.

Charles Darwin, for his humanity, and his contributions to the (now belated) science of human nature.

Ask me again, and I'd probably mention someone else!

I would say mine are Stephen Hawking and Isaac Newton, two of the most influencial scientists of their time. SH is particularly inspirational with such amazing scientific achievements in the midst of such a debilitating disease.

Mine would be my parents at the top spot and followed by (in no particular order):

    Senior Drill Instructor SSGT Johns
Drill Instructors SSGT Williams and SGT Bailey

I'll always appreciate them kicking (not literally) my ass.

My high school band directors...as I go off to become one just like them.

    Chandler Bing.
