They need to update their ad copy. Calling it "the most significant personal transportation device of the 20th century" sounds old hat. [IMG]

At only $78 Million a piece every drug runner on the planet will want one.
Of course they'll want the torpedo and SLBM options added. [IMG]

There are plenty of people out there who could probably afford one of these suckers but it would be interesting to see if they would have to register it with say the DOD or something.
I mean you wouldnt want to be on your maiden voyage and have a ship twice your size with torpedos blow your ass up [IMG]

They should put it on eBay if they really want to sell it at that price.[IMG]

there are no laws against private submarines, and I bet that this one is not very ''quiet'' and will show up on military listening devices from halfway around the world
SOme billionaire will buy one and then get hit by a frieghter while submerged and no one else will want one[IMG]

The brochure does have pics, and it says you can send for a video.

Why would you want a submarine in the first place? A ship that large would be cool, but a submarine?

The autonomy underwater is pretty impressive. If you're ever attacked by pirates (they still exist), just dive down about a hundred meters and sneak away!
Have you noticed the Seattle 1000 has a spiral staircase? Can they add a pipe organ as optional equipment? [IMG]

It saids the "design" was for a client - not sure if any production was ever done. Also curious what the cruising depth is and how long it can remain submerged. I'm sure the "mini-sub" option is a little pricey, and they don't have an optional heli-pad ? Gimme a break !

Looks like I better head down to the Quickie-Mart for a winning Lotto ticket....

Kirk, the specifications are on the second page. Here's a rundown on the key elements.
    Operating depth: 305 meters.
    Max. surface speed: 18 knots
    Cruising surface speed: 15 knots
    Max. submerged speed: 10 knots
    Surface range: 3500 nautical miles
Submerged endurance: 6 hours at 10 knots, 50 hours at 5 knots, 140 hours at 2.5 knots.
Oxygen supply: 30 days full load with a 10 day reserve.
You could sit on the ocean bottom for days on end without the need to resurface. Talk about getting away from it all! [IMG]
By comparison, the Canadian Navy's "previously owned" Victoria class submarines can only go down to 200 meters, but does have an autonomy of 8 weeks at sea along with the capability to go across the Atlantic Ocean fully submerged -- once they plug up all the leaks! [IMG]
Here's a link to the CBC Web site where you can watch an article on a reporter's two week stay aboard the newly acquired HMCS Windsor.

Are lasers available as an option? I'm thinking of a career change to "supervillain".

Eh, just call up the Kremlin and I'm sure you could pick up an ol' nuclear boomer (more room in the old missle room) pretty cheap these days. Kind of a spartan interior with it, but just consider that room for improvement. You don't get any fancy windows on it though, but you can go deeper, and much much faster and you can stay submerged for pretty much as long as you can keep food on board. Oh it's also pretty quiet, so you can sneak up on some unsuspecting US sub commander and give him a good scare. [IMG]
Seriously, if I were fantastically wealthy and uber-rich, I'd look into it. I think it'd be pretty damn cool, plus all of the bad parts of cruising on a yacht (like bad weather and such) are gone when you can drop down under the waves.
