Although I have'nt watched it yet, $9.99 for an anamorphic WS Version is Sweet, thanks MGM. This is definately a guily pleasure of mine, sure Kirk Douglas overacts, and Janet Leigh is miscast but I just love this movie and I'm not sure why. Anyone check out the transfer yet?

There's a very nice special with director Richard Fleischer on the disc too with a great deal of background information on the making of the film.:emoji_thumbsup:

Yes, the transfer is pretty good -- especially considering the age of the movie. MGM has done a great job on this one.

I got this online for under $10. GREAT value for the money. I thought the featurette was one of the most informative I've seen in a long time. For fans of historical epics, a great bargain!

I only rented it, not bought it, but I want to bump this thread and echo every other comment in this thread... gorgeous disc, gorgeous film. Awesome, unpretentious-but-not-stupid film that had me wearing a nice shit-eating grin throughout the whole two hours.

MGM is becoming one of my favorite studios. All these great classic titles in OAR for under $10 a piece. I picked up The Vikings & The Devils Brigade for $10 each last week and today got 2 packs of The Alamo/The Kentuckian and Support Your Local Sheriff/Support Your Local Gunfighter for $15 each (+ 20% off thanks to BB).

Thanks MGM!

The Vikings has always been on of my favorite fun films. The transfer is excellent on this disc. :emoji_thumbsup: For $10 how could you go wrong.
Anyone interested in just a plain fun historical epic should pick this up. Kirk Douglas & Ernest Borgnine make fantastic vikings and the Cinematography by Jack Cardiff is simply amazing. I can honestly say this is The best Viking film ever made. Much better than the insipid 13 Warriors.
