Note: I just voted for #4, the gift set. However, it's possible we'll end up with both the August release and the gift set, if the August release turns out to be the only way to have the theatrical cut. Perhaps a fifth option to the poll? [IMG]

I'll be doing my best to hold out to the November 4-disc release. As much as I love the movie and the books, I'm going to have to hold off on considering the giant gift set until I see it's MSRP.

It's going to be tough, though. Just knowing it's out there in August is going to drive me nuts!

The 2-disk in August and then the 4-disk in November. I have not seen this movie yet and don't think I'll make it until November.
    Peace Out~[IMG]

I voted "Both 1 and 2" but "2" might easily be replaced by the super boxed-set 5 disc edition.

    Hi

"Lord of the Rings" will not be added to my collection. Despite all the hype about this film, I'm just not interested!

I'll be getting just the 2 disk theatrical version. I liked the movie a lot but am not as enamoured of it as many seem to be. Actually, I'd have been happy with a barebones release with a theatrical trailer.

My answer is the same as John.
RonP - is this because you don't go to theatres any more period?
Ed - thanks for the thread fart.[IMG]

I usually jump on everything too quickly, so I'll likely end up with both, or when the November issue arrives, sell the first one. I'm just excited to view at home a few times, ASAP, so I doubt I'll just rent it

If the 4 (or 5) disc set has the theatrical release as well, then I'll probably wait for that. If it doesn't, then I'll have to get both.

If the five disc set is close to the 4 disc set, and has all the features, I will be getting the 2 disc + the 5 disc. Otherwise, probably the 2 disc + the 4 disc. I have to see what the final specs are for the 5 disc before springing for it...

Same as Marc-Andre: I'm going to want both the extended cut and the original theatrical cut... If they're both available on a November edition, then that's what I'll get... If not, I'll probably get stuck buying both...
If I do end up waiting until November, I'll at least rent the August discs once to tide me over...
BTW: Can someone explain the difference between the 4-disc SE and the 5-disc "gift set?"

I'll be buying the 2-disc DVD in August then i'll be picking the 5-disc up in November.

If they do this for each film, It looks as though most of us are going to end up with a lot of LotR DVD's by the end of 2004.

Technically there are two versions of option 1: widescreen and pan & scan.

I'd hope no one would pick pan & scan, but it should probably be an option in the poll.

I voted for #2, extended. However, if the 5-disc version is not too much more, and depending on what it has, I may choose it instead.
