Top of the line headphones, you won't be disappointed. Back in 2007 when I was looking at these, they retailed at $1,700 and I ended up getting Senheiser HD-280 for closed back listening and a pair of Grado RS1i for open back listening. I find open back headphones better for long periods of listening as they tend to be lighter and more comfortable (i.e. my ears don't get hot!). However, they don't trap in the sound as well and you may lose some detail. Odd that in 3 years, I'm never done an A and B comparison between the two headphones... when the kids and wife are around, I use the Senheiser's, when I'm alone, I use the Grado's (they are more comfortable!).
