We have this reporter in the newsroom who covers commercial real estate in Orange County and San Diego. Her name is Julie (nope, not that Julie).

We took our boss to lunch yesterday for her birthday.

As we all sat there, enjoying the weird ambiance of the downtown Los Angeles restaurant--Clifton's--Julie mentioned that she has taken up target practice by throwing daggers. A weird hobby, I know.

But Julie went a bit far when she mentioned using an oak tree in her back yard for practice. I lost my temper.

"I don't want to hear any more of your oak-and-dagger stories," I told her as I returned to my soup.
