So it is snowing outside right now - how about 80s music that makes you think summer or has summer mentioned in the title or lyrics...

Robert, Great song by The Call. It is a shame that we lost lead singer Michael Been in 2010...

I will always think of Yes as more of a '70's band than an '80's one. But they did make their presence felt in the

'80's as well, especially with the changes in band members. And I bet 90215 was their biggest selling album (?).

Asia and GTR are more in tune with the polished '80's style of music. And Jon and Vangelis, of course. Interesting paring.

Just noticed this thread...

I am a child of the 70s. To me, there is nothing

better than the music of that era, particularly the

black music between 1970-1974 that includes

Marvin Gaye, The Spinners, and The Sound of

Philadelphia. I have XM radio and the channel

is consistently tuned to 70s music.

I hated the 80s. Like a lot of people, not a real

fan of that period. Didn't like the synthesized, punk

sound of that era.

But I have to tell you....

I am warming up very fast. At work we had been

listening to 70s music for the past year. Months

ago we switched to the 80s channel and have been

really enjoying it. I have even increased the amount

of 80s music on my iPod.

Ron,

The era of 70s soul is another great favorite of mine - love to fire up The Dramatics, Ohio Players, Brothers Johnson etc, etc, etc. We may need to start a new thread!

I only know one Level 42 song (one guess which one), and it is one of my all-time favorite songs. That should cause me to explore them in more depth, but I never have.

Currently listening to Cowboy Junkies, Trinity Sessions cd, from 1988. That count? Sounds pretty good to me.
