I usually never, ever go for direct-to-video releases, but the original "Sniper" was one of my favorite action movies. Roger Ebert liked the original quite a bit.

Anyone know anything about "Sniper 2"...is it worth it? Anyone heard was the transfer looks like? Did it play theatrically anywhere (overseas).

I have caught this on a cable presentation. It has upper-end direct to video production values. However, it is much more generic in plot than the theatrical film. I found the original to be a cut above the rest, especially with the psychological elements that were touched on. This one could have starred Dolph Lundgren and been about the same. They do, however, acknowledge the original movie, so there is some continuity.

I don't have the disc, so I can't comment on its quality though.

    Dual layer, dual ratio.

    Looks decent.
    Sounds good.

This also may be a first or rare (multilanguage) title where location subs are player generated, instead of being burnt in.

    Still watching.

Well, the )(*^)(*& subtitles keep turning themselves on (Toshiba 5-disk player I bought from Sam's a coupla months ago). I've had one other disk (don't remember which one) that would do this...

    oh ok,

    it's an ok movie.
    very straightforward.

watchable, in that straight to video B action movie category.

couldn't help thinking of Enemy At The Gates.

    rent it.

As a precision shooting gun nut, I think that whoever did the firearms/ballistics consulting on the film was hugely overpaid.

Even if they were a chimp, and worked for banannas.
