I like Mission To Mars because it basically focuses on scientific exploration while keeping the melodrama to a minimum. Yes, there are some melodramatic elements about the astronauts feeling bad about their colleagues who have gone missing on Mars, but I liked that it focuses mostly on the tasks at hand rather than simply using space as a backdrop to tell a story that could have been set anywhere else. Basically that it’s the opposite of something like the Netflix show “Away” where it was billed as being about a mission to Mars but is really first and foremost about the personal problems the astronauts had home on earth.
