Q150e from Rel offers many advantages, mostly in terms of how it connects and the seemles integration with music .I am curious if there are any other suggestions under $1,200?

Adire Rava SE would fit the bill at $529.

It is the same sealed low Q (0.67) design using the Adire Shiva 12" driver as the standard Rava, but replaces the AVA250 plateamp with the HS200 plate amp.

To quote from Adire:

Sporting the same custom EQ as used in the base Rava, this amp includes a true 4th order Linkwitz Riley crossover with independently adjustable low pass AND high pass settings (line level outputs only). Add in a quasi-parametric EQ and completely balanced circuitry, and the Rava SE is suited for nearly any audiophile system
The eq is a rumble filter with a corner frequency of 18hz that provides 1dB of boost at 25hz.

Another option would be to get Acoustic Visions to build you a low Q sealed Tempest/Dayton DVC15" (enclosure might be a little bigger than you would like, around 200L) or a Dayton Titanic MKII (around 100L enclosure would be required) powered by the HS500. These options would get up around $1000 though. You can get really nice veneer vinishes from Acoustic Visions as well for a few $100 extra.

I'm not suthat a "line-in/line-out" deal would be the best solution in the bedroom due to placement, but sounds like a good consideration..........
