My mother's sony 32-fq75 (just three years old)has developed,in the lower left corner, a small pink/purplish tinged blemish. It looks as if the set was burnt..although that's not the best way to describe it.

It's not the same pink bars that I get on my new wega..it's not that at all. It's smaller than a fist, arc shaped, and is present despite what is viewed. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a magnetized portion of the tube. Check around it for any metallic objects that could generate a magnetic field. Things like speakers, fans, items with transformers. (even near the back of the set) The larger the tube the more it is affected by outside forces.
