I need an entry level receiver that's 4" (or less) in height. This thing is going in an armoir (sp?) and space is very limited. This is for casual use, but it needs to be able to drive a pair of JBL S38II's. And it needs to cost around $300 (or less). Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Geez, I'm sorry, nevermind :b. Just remembered someone posted about the Panasonic SA-XR25. That's just about perfect for this application.

the XR25 or XR45 would be very very good choices. Otherwise you're looking at the discontinued Pioneer CL300 which was not a solid performer. The digital amp technology used in the panasonic's is supposed to provide amazing sound when suplied with a digital signal from an adequate source. Don't let the lack of binding posts for all channels or the weight fool you. There's simply not enough room on the back for all channels to have them and SOOO much weight and heat are bypassed using the digital amps. There's a big thread about these receivers over at AVS and they're getting ALOT of good words.
