I hear a slight hum in my speakers when I have my amp and receiver (which I'm using as a pre/pro) turned on but no music playing. When I used the receiver without the amp and had nothing playing, I did not hear a hum. Is this normal?

I don't know if it's normal, but it seems quite common.
The way to find out what is causing it is to sequentially disconnect items until the hum goes away. Then at least you can isolate it and determine if it is a problem that can easily be solved.

Thanks John. I read the other thread, and the thread starter has a Denon same as I do. I wonder if this is a problem with Denons? I posted to the other thread to see if he ever solved his problem.
