what could cause this withmy front main speakers? I know I hear it when listening to music only channels on digital cable. Not noticable when whatching movies. I also here when the tv or stereo is not on, but the receiver is. Is this mormal?

What receiver are you running? Some receivers "hiss" more than other. And the more you turn up the volume the more you will hear this. It's the noise ratio basically.
