Dont know whether somebody else on here posted this already, but I just read that Veteran character actor Skip Homeier died last month at 86. Did guest shots on a bunch of classic shows in the 60s. Really good character actor. Don't make em like that anymore.

You are right, they don't. He was great in so many shows.

He was my favorite Nazi poster child in the chilling Tomorrow the World, which he also did on B'way. Hope he's resting in a nicer place.

I watched him in Ten Wanted Men two days ago. He was always a strong, forceful presence on screen in the mid to late 1950s.

An extremely familiar face. He was one of those actors, who people would always recognize, but often didn't know his name. He will be missed. RIP.

I hadn't heard of Skip Homeier's passing. I recently watched him in a Science Fiction Theatre episode. He also appears in one of my favorite Outer Limits episode, "Expanding Human". That's just a very small example of the prolific work he did on 50's and 60's Television.
It's very sad when we lose folks such as Skip Homeier but as least they've left us a legacy of their work that we can enjoy.

Skip also starred in William Witney's STRANGER AT MY DOOR along with Macdonald Carey. It's available from Olive Films on Blu-ray and is very good.

He died on June 25, but still no obit in the New York Times!

He made a ton of westerns. He played Billy Jack in Budd Boetticher's THE TALL T (1957). Other directors he worked for include Sam Fuller, Henry King, Lewis Milestone, Douglas Sirk, Phil Karlson, William Witney, Nunnally Johnson, and Richard Fleischer. After a certain point, he mainly did television. I also watched him in an episode of "Science Fiction Theatre" recently.

Here he is as Billy Jack in THE TALL T, with Henry Silva, playing "Chink," on the left:

(As of this writing, Silva is still with us.)

Having viewed THE GHOST AND MR. CHICKEN (1966) on Netflix this evening, it dawned on me that character actor Christopher McDonald probably owes a debt to Skip Homeier's portrayal of the Ollie Weaver character in that film. I especially saw similarities with the former's douchebag (Sorry, but that does seem the most apt description!) Shooter McGavin character in HAPPY GILMORE (1996).

Anyway, my belated condolences to Skip's family and friends! May he Rest in Peace.

I saw the thread title and thought who the heck is that and now come to realize how many performances of Skip's I have enjoyed over the years not really knowing his name. RIP.
