'Sixteen Candles' sequel?

    Another... why bother news story.


    I don't see the point of doing this. Would they have thirtysomethings in the place of the teenagers?

    Maybe if they have Ringwald as a single parent and Jake either never married her (and she goes to her high-school reunion) or they are divorced. Heck there are all kinds of options here. I would just hope they get the original Jake, Michael Schoeffling, but I heard he was more interested in workworking than acting (hence his long absence from the silver screen).

    Regardless, I don't think I'm quite ready to poo-poo on 37 Candles quite yet. I"m sure they're thinking of an age appropriate film and not "17 Candles." There is too much that could be done that would work well given the right script.

    Maybe if they got Hughes to do it and Michael Schofeling out of retirement but still, I dont think you should mess with something as good as 16 Candles. It might turn into another Romy and Michelle: the Beginning which was horrible.
