I finally canceled SiriusXM. Once my 3-month trial is over, I am done!

...well, that is unless they offer me 6 months of ALL-ACCESS for $50 (which seems to be their latest come back to us offer).

I just can't deal with the 100 song playlists. The same stuff day in and day out.

I finally succumbed to the fact that I can create better playlists on iTunes. I have 7,000+ songs all categorized into decades playlists so I can essentially create my own radio stations.

Really, the best thing about SiriusXM was Howard Stern. Outside of that, it's garbage paid FM radio.

    Ron,

A lot of the new vehicles come with audio systems that will handle playlists -- it sounds like yours does. My new Acadia has this, as well, but I have not tried it, as I really don't use playlists within iTunes ( I use iTunes to organize my music on my Windows PC). I may give it a try, but for now I'm doing the same thing I did on my old Terrain -- just setting the audio system to random play the MP3's I have copied to a 64GB thumb drive. The Acadia's audio system also allows me to request to play specific albums, which I may find more useful, as that is how I used to listen to music (mostly concert recordings) on my iPod Nano before I recently ran it through the laundry.

    Scott,

My new Honda Accord is the first vehicle I have owned that has Apple CarPlay. As you had noted, it handles playlists flawlessly.

All my music is on my iPhone. Thousands of songs at my disposal.

You know, if only SiriusXM had people running it that really cared about their product and had the imagination to make a music service worth listening to, I would not be resorting to doing it myself.

WTF? No. I even chatted with an agent and she was adamant that no offers exist currently--I guess just not to people who are interested in re-subscribing, because I know a handful of new car owners that were offered some pretty sweet deals when their free trial was up.

Haha, so true. Ron, you nailed it. 150 channels, and only one worth listening to. Oh well.

    Bryan,

There is always some kind of offer. If they are not making it to you over the phone watch your mail.

Don't pay full price for a crappy radio service.

I just received an offer in the mail for $5 per month for 6 months -- I am still on my 3 month free trial with my new vehicle. I still haven't even listened to the satellite radio once yet after having the vehicle for about 3 weeks.

OnStar keeps calling me, too, as there's only one week left in the free one month trial for that service. At $15 per month for the least expensive plan, I will not be subscribing to that, either. We never subscribed on our last two GM vehicles.

My SXM trial is almost up and I'm debating if I want to continue using it. I too got the $5 deal but not sure it's worth that just to listen to the 2-3 channels I listen to. My favorite is Radio Classics. Most of my music is played through Android Auto with my Spotify account. I gave up loading my music to my phone or other devices long ago so I now rely on pandora and Spotify. Much easier and much more variety than digging through my stockpile of MP3's (100,000 songs so far)

I love "Little Steven's Underground Garage" on Channel 21. It alone makes the monthly fee worthwhile. Each hour is a great tour through the history of rock'n'roll.

I'm a relative newcomer to Sirius XM. I enjoyed my freebie subscription when I bought my car a couple years ago and took advantage of the tremendous discounts that get offered to get you to renew.

But there's a channel I want up in the 400s.

But the radio in my 2013 Honda CR-V only goes up to about channel 235.

Do I consider upgrading my car's radio? Decisions, decisions...

That seems really odd. I've never heard of a car radio that can't play any or all XM channels. Have you called XM to check into it? or asked them to refresh your radio?

I think there are channels only available online or the app.
Just put the app on your phone and play it through the Bluetooth or the aux connection.

I just chatted with a SiriusXM rep.

    Johnny was spot on.

My car's radio needed to be "refreshed" in order for me to receive a number of channels with numbers higher than 225. Since I'm at work, I couldn't do it now, but they texted me a link which I can click which will send the refresh signal when my car is in a place available to get the signal. Cool.

I was kinda digging the idea of getting a new car radio...but am more than happy not to have to spend the $$$ to do so.

Most of the upper channels in their lineup are streaming channels.

Since I'm only a "Select" subscriber (pretty inexpensive deal) and not "all access" I don't think I have access to the app or streaming, Tony.

Mike download the app on your phone and see if it lets you log in with your Sirius account credentials.

You may have to register the app but I’m pretty sure they all work together.

Ok now I’m clear on what you are saying.

If you’re paying more then $5 a month they are ripping you off.
I pay $5 a mo th and have access to everything they offer.

Including streaming and on demand, Howard Stern and well all of it.

ApparentLy I have what they call the Premier Service.

    Tony,

How did you get them down to THAT deal. I was bartering with them and the best deal I got was ALL ACCESS for $50 for 6 months.

And then they plopped another $10 in music royalties fees and tax.

My deal is only slightly higher than yours, but....
