Anyone watching this series on Freeform? I'm hooked through the first three episodes.
It centers on the discovery (re-discovery?) of mermaids in the waters off the Pacific northwest. But these are not the Disney Princess type of mermaids, these are voracious predatory animals, extremely intelligent and super strong. They also have the ability to mimic human form and can walk on land for periods of time, not to mention their siren song that can captivate humans.
Eline Powell is very good as Ryn, a mermaid who has come ashore with a mission.
The first three episodes have aired, but Freeform repeats them pretty regularly and I think you can stream them from their web site, too. Fourth episode is on Thursday at 8pm.
