During Season 6's Maggie Makes 3 episode, when Homer sees how bowling pins are made etc. Whats the catchy piece of music played over it. I have heard it used quite a lot in Looney Tunes shorts.

    Thanx!

Most likely it's "Powerhouse" by Raymond Scott. Carl Stallings adapted the heck out if it for the Warner Brothers cartoons.

Raymond Scott (listen to the "B" section clip)

I always thought Powerhouse was a Carl Stalling original piece until I heard it on the XM 40's station a couplea days ago. :b

James Horner adapted that piece as a signature theme for the 1989 film "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids"...it ended up being a very controversial (and legal) issue, however if you have seen the film you'll understand that its use is quite effective in conveying that 'cartoonish mad scientist' aspect.

Finally, James Horner rips off someone else instead of just recyling his old scores... [IMG]

Good. This isn't the place for it. I was merely providing a piece of trivia related to both this piece of music (Powerhouse), and my favorite composer (Horner).

It's yet another example of how much that piece is associated with cartoons and comedy.

The Horner thing? No, not at all lightly.

The Powerhouse music, well, I don't remember it from early Looney Tunes, but I do remember it from both the Simpsons episode, and the early 1990's Warner cartoon "Tiny Toons", where is was also used as a cartoonish, mad scientist theme...I think it had to do with the pig Hamton (or Hampton? ) in a huge laundry washing factory or something.
