Can The Simpsons make a triple-hit at the cinema?
by Paul Davidson

Fox's pithy, comical, irreverent, yet often relevant series The Simpsons has been a phenomenally long-running success by both animated and primetime television standards. Now heading into its thirteenth season, it just doesn't stop amusing its huge fan following. For years, people have been asking how much longer the series could last. Now they're asking when we get to see a Simpsons movie. It looks like both questions have now been answered.
When asked these questions a year ago August, series creator Matt Groening said that asking "how much longer" for the Simpsons was like asking a marathon runner if he was tired. In other words, the series seemingly has its own endless energy that it can keep tapping to go on as long as it wants. More recently, Simpsons producer Al Jean told IGN FilmForce that "it may be smart to do the series, then wait a couple of years, like Star Trek, and then have a movie come out. I think the anticipation would be tremendous." Both Groening and Jean have said that they're definitely planning to do a movie, but no deals or timetables had been set.
However, this past week, Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson), speaking at Ohio University, dished out a lot more information on the franchise's direction. After this season, Fox has renewed the show for another year, with the option to renew again for a fifteenth season. The big news, at least to moviephiles, is that once the series is over, the voice talent has been signed on to do not one, but three full-length feature films! You can read the full report at AICN. Certainly no details about these films are known yet, but we'll be keeping a close eye on the future of The Simpsons. Stay tuned to IGN FilmForce!

I'd see them.
But, who knows if it'll ever happen.
