After a string of bad episodes, tonite's was pretty awesome.

    fav. parts:

homer snored thru his eyes, the m*a*s*h finale spoof, the back the the future spoof, van kiss alot, the guy with a hook for a head, the modem and snore converters, I can't remember anymore at the moment.

It's becoming a bit too self-referential. I enjoyed it. I laughed. But the show's jumped the shark. Will Disco Stu be getting his own episode soon?

Time to put out Seasons 2-7 on DVD and move on to other things.

Tonights episode was better, but overall still pretty lackluster. The M*A*S*H helicopter scene and the Back To The Future stuff had me laughing, which is more than I can so for the other recent episodes.

I'm one of the many that believes the show has definitely fallen quite a bit in recent years but remains enjoyable nonetheless. The only part that made me laugh out loud was the "Back to the Future" reference.

I thought it was a fantastic episode. Maybe it does refrence itself a lot (which I think shows respect for the true fans), but there were plenty of outside references: M*A*S*H, Back to the Future, and I think that was a Midnight Cowboy reference with the bus and the music. And most importantly the main reference was to one of my very favorite early episodes.

    Some of the great quotes:

"This is how faceless Joe lost his legs."

"I am watching you through a camera."

And the Sex in the City spoof. That was great!! It's a show with four women acting like gay men. C'mon that's funny!

And I almost forgot the Lenny and Carl stuff. This episode was the best in a long time, and I think it ranks up there with the best all time (say top 20-30).* Not bad for having jumped the shark a while back.

    *Just one man's opinion.

I agree, one of the funnier episodes in the last while.

Also don't forget this part... it was good for a laugh:The part in the begining with the comic book store guy saying he was the only one who really loved Jar-Jar

I liked it too. They stayed on one idea and ran with it.

Too many episodes in the past have been all over the map and uneven.

Lots of laughs in this episode.

I must have been asleep at the wheel last night, what was the BTTF reference?

    (EDIT... I just remembered... nevermind)

The BTTF reference was at the prom. Homer said if Marge married Ziff then he would never be born.

Could the oil well scenes be from other classic movies, does anyone know?

How about Homers best line of the show.

She's like my best friend that lets me feel on her boobies. The way Marge got a kick out of what he said had me rolling.

Yeah it was a pretty good episode. Better than some other recent ones. But still I quote Sick Boy from Trainspotting, "No, It's not bad, but it's not great either is it? And deep in your heart you kind of know that although it sounds all right, it's actually just shite."

Personally I think the show jumped the shark when they killed Maude Flanders. That left Ned with no foil and he lost much of his humor and became a very ineffective character. Instead of laughing at him, you just felt sorry for him and Homer's constant ribbing of him seemed just plain mean. Well that's my $.02
