Wow...I was just scouring Fox sources last night looking to see if this was posted yet. Freaky that Amazon has it and Fox doesn't. But I noticed the same situation with King Of The Hill and others, so what do I know. The retailers get this stuff pushed to them it seems.

Thank you James for mentioning this! I'll have Gord help spread the word on this, and give you full credit of course!

Thanks David, but I'm only passing on my enthusiam!

Choices Direct in the UK is listing a 28th July 2003 release date (but have no cover image). Considering that we now know a cover image has been released, I'm pretty confident that Choices Direct are acting on a reputable source (such as a Fox UK retail catalog).

Based on the release pattern of the previous two seasons, the US and UK releases will be within a small window (a couple of weeks or so, Season 1 was released first in the US, Season 2 was released first in the UK).

I expect the delay has been rights issues - the Simpsons uses a lot of popular music - and I also suspect these right issues have been US based only (Various European countries have had the set listed from as early as November 2002, only for it to keep slipping).

Fox has released all of Ally McBeal in Europe and Japan, but state a R1 release would be difficult due to the music issues. I expect Fox to hold back on the European release of The Simpsons until they are ready to go with an (almost) simultaneous worldwide release.

Fox really needs to pick up the pace on these. One a year will take FAR too long to get it all out.

Release date not announced, and yet Amazon has 52 REVIEWS up for it (So Far). Good grief!

Wow, how good am I? Back when I first got Season Two, I looked at the silver color of Season One and the teal color of Season Two, sitting next to each other, and I predicted that Season Three would be pink. Well... it's not quite pink, but I think I was pretty close!

*places hands on temples, closes eyes, and tries to predict color of Season Four*

This is great... I can't wait.

Actually, as revealed in a recent discussion, it is Groening himself dragging his feet, not Gracie.

Actually if you're talking about the USA Today see my take on the comment here. Strange he would use the exact same quip literally 18 months or more apart. I see it as being a tounge-in-cheek "non-reason".

As for the article mentioning recording the commentaries for Season 3, perhaps other commentaries were being recorded the author assumed were Season 3 as it was the next to street or perhaps - gasp - the truth was being bent just a little in order to insert a subliminal plug for the upcoming Season 3 DVD set.

I don't think commentaries are the reason for the delay.

Why solicit the set in Europe from November last year if the commentaries hadn't been recorded (and, even ignoring "unreliable" e-tailer listings, which included Amazon.de, it was solicited - by Fox UK - at least 3 times in Previews UK from that date onwards).

Why is there no such problem in recording the commentaries for the Futurama sets (Season 2 has been out in the UK since November last year and Season 3 is out this June).

I'm sure that the delay is for some unforeseen legal reasons - perhaps pertaining to the USA only.

Does this have anything to do with syndication rights to Fox affiliates?

With Season 3 Fox must realize that I can finally start saying I have some of my all time favorite episodes and I'll never have to check to see if they're coming up in syndication again.

Also, how have sales been on Season 1 & 2? Possible they could just decide to keep the latest release on market longer before releasing a new one to support sales. Even if sales are fine, I'm sure FOX estimates were for outstanding sales.

Fred, I believe S1 was the best-selling TV season set of all time in R1 ... until S2 came along. Sales are DEFINITELY not a problem with these releases.
