Has anybody here ever built their own AV rack?? Can I go to Home Depot and find some simple connect together shelves?? I don't want to spend a fortune for those fancy ones, just want a simple sturdy rack to put those heavy amps and receivers onto???

Absolutely, it's actually pretty easy. If you search the forum for DIY shelving I'm sure you'll find dozens of threads detailing how to turn a few dollars worth of threaded rods, nuts, bolts, and shelving into a rack.

Yea, flexy racks are great. I just built one over the weekend. Got some pictures in this thread: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hreadid=157609

Very easy to make, especially if you didn't do the shelving fronts like I did. You can even buy a sheet of MDF, and have the guys at Home Depot cut it for you. Then all you have to do is drill holes and paint.

hehe, with the recent flood of flexy's, you have plenty of examples to go by.

I'd have a link in my sig, but I'm switching webhosts right now...just search back a few days in the DIY forum and you'll see my thread. I'm very proud of my stands and rack. :)

no where, you build them, just like a simple front firing 9cuft tempest with soft maple bracing casters and 2 4" flared port.

I am building my own rack... Simple it is not.. And it's
taking some time (getting parts machined you are at the
mercy of the machinist who's doing it as a "Government
Project" AKA after hours use of the shops equipment :)

Here's what the finished rack will look like..

I just got the center rings back from the machine shop and
they look fantastic. Now off they go to my other friends to
get bead blasted. I am having problems drilling a hole all
the way through the 12" long Oak beams so I am going to have
to change my engineering around a little :)
