Went into my local HMV today to pick up Silence and Hannibal, and was pleasantly surprised. Normally I hate the place because they're more expensive than Future Shop, but I was in the area and had a free dvd coming anyway.
Back to the point though, they ONLY had the widescreen version of Silence-and lots of copies at that. I actually checked to see if they had both (curious as to how obvious the difference was), but nowhere to be found. Go HMV!

Just the opposite happened to me at Costco today. I was totally excited to get the new SOTL for $20.69 and it wasn't until I was in the checkout line looking at the case that I noticed that it was full screen only. Arghhhh... is this what Costco is going to have from now on?

Rich, If you didn't purchase Silence of the Lambs at Costco, they have at Future Shop in widescreen for 20.99.

Costco here in Fresno had only widescreen copies of SOTL, much to my relief.

I prefer not to push the subwoofers until they're properly run in.

Man, do you guys have a Best Buy near you? Both films are $16.99 and if you buy both, you get an instant $5.00 off. That just rocks!

    Chris,
Canadian dollars dude. $20.99 CDN is like $13.75 US.
On another note, Future Shop was bought by Best Buy last week. Another great Canadian store gets swallowed up by corporate America. [IMG]

The more I hear about this store having only full frame and this store having only widescreen the more I believe that they just place an order, and they have no idea what they're getting. It doesn't seem they do anything intentionally. I think some folks are giving the stores' employees too much credit either way.

The stores know exactly which version they're ordering. There are 2 different SKU's for SOTL - 1 for FF and 1 for WS. It's up to whoever is placing the orders to list the correct SKU and quantity ordered.

Folks, this seems a little more suited to the Retail and Wholesale Vendors Feedback area.
