    Feef,
Let me know what kinda hotel your looking for and i can give you some tips.
I worked in the Hotel/Guest Service industry for a few years here.
The local transportation is via VIA [IMG], a bus company with set routes. You can pick up brochures and or call VIA and ask the times for the next pickup from your nearest location.
The local DownTown trasportation is via a TROLLEY CAR.
    25cents.

Any hotel or a nice hotel? Business passing through and just need a pillow or want to enjoy the veiw. Best location is a hotel on the Riverwalk. Do a web search San Antonio hotels Riverwalk, - they'll pop up.
    Try this for a start:
    http://sanantonio.citysearch.com/
Be sure and try to eat at Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery, it was much better when it was an unfamous non-touristy hole in the wall in the old farmers market. But still worth looking up.
Can't help with transportation info, always stayed on the river and walked around to things mainly (and/or with a rental car)

    Felix,
If you'd like to stay somewhere historic and right downtown, check out the Menger.
    Jim
...and for HT it's Bjorns on 281 North. [IMG]

I love San Antonio, and I agree that the RiverWalk is THE place to be. I just looked on www.hotwire.com and they show a 4-star hotel in downtown for $121./nt over June 21-23. Based on my experience with hotwire, this is likely either the Hyatt or the Marriott (you find out after you buy).
I would call those hotels directly and compare rates for the dates you need, then consider hotwire. You can expect that practically anything they offer in the 3.5-5.0 star range is an excellent major chain hotel (i.e. Westin, Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, etc.)

    any big ass shoping mall?
or a very nice restaurant that wont break the bank?

    Ahh, you wanted affordable [IMG]
That hotel is only a couple years old.
Downtown SA is right on the otherside of the freeway. I wouldnt wander far from the hotel at night [IMG]
Just take a cab, or see if the hotel offers transportation to the Mall or Riverwalk (1 Block away)
There are loads of restaurants on the Riverwalk. Check out Rio Rio Cantina for Mex.
Fat Tuesdays, Dicks Last Resort, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Holywood, etc.
Fiesta Texas is a fun and great place, but i dont know if youd like to do that alone.
Hey, "Dont Forget The Alamo" (4 blocks away).

the Riverwalk is a bunch of restuarants on the San Antonio river which flows through downtown. There is Rivercenter Mall very close by. Its a nice mall, maybe not the biggest in town but its ok.

Yes RiverCenter is the Mall downtown. I like it.
NorthStar is the most famous, and been around longer. Its by the airport.
Take a ride on a river barge, and "Remember The Alamo" [IMG] [IMG]
