I just wanted to know if anyone is having this problem.

I am using the disc 2 of "Shrek".

When starting the movie, once the Dreamworks emblem appears the camera icon appears on screen.

Once this happens the DTS soundtrack skips for one second.

Is anyone else having this problem playing the DTS soundtrack when the camera angle icon appears?

I have also disabled the camera icon from appearing on screen but the DTS soundtrack still skips.

After disabling the camera icon from appearing on screen, the camera icon appears on the DVD player display.

    I have a Toshiba SD1600.

I hope I'm not the only one with this problem.

FYI, this doesn't happen with the Dolby soundtrack on disc 2.

Thanks the links kinda help but only one person seemed to say that they were having problems with the DTS version of disc two when the camera icon either appears on screen on the dvd player display.
With either setting, the DTS audio soundtrack skips for about 1 or 2 seconds then goes to normal.
This doesn't happen on the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack.
Is this a defective pressing on the DTS soundtrack?
Maybe we can email www.dreamworks.com and ask for a replacement.
I just emailed domain@dreamworks.com and told them about the problem with disc two and using DTS audio.
Please, please, please, peoople email them so they can maybe issue a replacement.
I agree, this isn't supposed to happen.
If I didn't have a DTS decoder I wouldn't care but I prefer the DTS audio track.
I'll let you know if I get a response.
I asked them who do I contact about this problem.
Here is some info I found on Dreamworks:

I'm not sure what the final verdict was on the shrek camera popup is, but the thing I have noticed is that it seems that when ever there is a spotty problem with disks, they always show up on toshibas. See the monty python thread. Several players have the subtitle problem, but not all. of course toshiba has the most models affected. I have an SD-2200 and get the camera popup. I feel that this may be a disk problem, but only affects some players. Having a toshiba, puts us at great risk of experiencing the worst and most problems [IMG]

Man, I almost wish that I didn't have a Toshiba.

I'm going to try this disc on a Sony, Pioneer and another Toshiba.

I'll post what model Sony, Pioneer and Toshiba that I've tried it on tonight.

    (excluding my Toshiba)

    I'll post my findings tonight.

I hope it's just my model Toshiba that's causing this because at least I can upgrade to a different manufacturer later on.

The sad thing is, this player is less than one year old.

If the Sony dvd player that I'll test today doesn't do the DTS audio skipping right after the Dreamworks logo, I'll only purchase Sony DVD players from now on.

I wonder if a firmware upgrade will fix this problem.

I wish I could take it to a shop, show them this problem and get the latest firmware that might fix the problem.

Also, I wish they could disable the camera angle icon from showing onscreen or on the dvd player display.

    Note:

This DTS audio skipping only happens when the camera angle icon appears on screen or on the dvd player display.

I have disabled the camera angle icon from showing up on the display.

Of since I have done this, now the camera angle icon only show up on the dvd player display but when the icon appears there the DTS audio skips.

I think the camera angle icon is making the DTS audio skip.

I'm going to try to email Toshiba to see what they say.

I wish that the camera angle icon could be permanently disabled from showing up onscreen on the dvd player display.

I don't use the camera angle icon feature anyways.

Good luck. I will have trouble ever buying another toshiba player again. I have had lots of little problems. Dont own the problematic Monty Python disk, but I do have the "Ultimate Groove" disk, and have the delayed menu loading problems. Some menus take 30-40 seconds to load!!

According to my JVC receiver manual, problems like this can happen if the DTS track is improperly flagged as a DTS track. The receiver gets confused, and takes about 1-2 seconds to figuire out that it is a DTS track when in "auto-detect-mode". When this happens, my manual states that I should turn off the auto-detect, and place the receiver in "DTS-only" mode to elliminate skips and delays.

Maybe this is also your problem?

I just got a RP91 and use it to do the DTS decoding until I get a new receiver. I will have to check this.

    I have a Yamaha HTR-5250 receiver.
I'll try putting my receiver in DTS mode tonight.
I hope this fixes the problem.
This is how my receiver goes into DTS mode currently.
I play disc 2 of Shrek.
I go to the word audio setup (or something like that) and
change the audio setup on the disc to DTS 5.1 surround.
I press play using my dvd player remote.
I get the DTS trailer with the xylaphone (SP?) playing.
The DTS logo appears on screen.
    The Dreamworks logo appears.
The camera angle icon appears either onscreen or on the dvd player display.
Once the camera angle icon appears the DTS audio soundtrack pauses / stutters for about 1/2 second.
I'm still thinking it has to do with the camera angle icon on the DTS audio soundtrack.

I just got an email from www.dtsonline.com
    Here's the response:
    Dear Sir,
You will need to contact the studio that did the disc - I believe DreamWorks
released this movie on DVD. Please contact their home video department and see
if they have had any compatibility problems.
    Sincerely,
    DTS Customer Service

    Hi, I have a Toshiba SD1600.
On the "Shrek" disc 2 when playing the DTS audio soundtrack, when the camera
angle icon appears either onscreen or on the dvd player display, the DTS audio
soundtrack skips for one second after the Dreamworks logo appears.
Has anyone else reported this problem?
This doesn't occur with the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack on disc 2.
    Thanks.
