I'm sure most of us weren't really expecting them to deliver on that promise, but I can't even figure out what kind of calculations they've done.
Here's my review of the special features for Shrek , feeling a little bit disappointed actually.
I can't find the "hilarious character interviews" they were talking about on the packaging either. Anyone find this?
If someone who's got it could offer their take on how they got 11 hours, I'd love to hear it.
By the way, before you throw out your DVD case because of that sticky goo left behind, try using your wife's nail polish remover, works like a charm. (pain in the butt though)
But in the end, the film looks and sounds great, so that's all that really matters. No argument there.

It's hard to calculate the amount of hours of extras. So many of the extras are kids games for instance.

    Thanks Miles,
I saw the Cast listing on Disc 2, and searched through it exhaustively, wondering where it could be. So there it is on Disc 1.
Well, that's about four minutes closer to the eleven hour mark.

The 11 hours includes the time you spend listening to the audio commentaries and playing with the DVD-Rom features.
Think about, recording your own voice to go with a scene. Kids could have hours of fun with just that.
Which is why the sticker says "Over 11 hours of bonus features."
They are adding the time it takes to go through the added-value materials, commentary tracks, and other features.

If you add up the audio commentary and extra video material, it adds up to about 3 hours.
Add to that still galleries and other text material, and you may have 4 hours or so.
Then there's DVD-rom material: OK, not every person might use 7 hours on this, but then again, how do you measure how long a kid will play one of these games?
Maybe 11 hours is a little steep, but ok, I can live with it! [IMG]

Don't forget to include the "2 hours of fun" trying to get
the sticky goo off the case. I'm sure that must have been
    included in the 11 hours.

LOL! [IMG] Kevin, that's it! Damn, is that the stickiest goo ever or what...
Of course, this is followed by an hour of joy, where you search for a replacement case (if you have one) and switch it, because the sticker has ruined the original case!

The sticky goo is the devil's work. For those not aware, after you peel off the sticker, it leaves behind a residue that does not peel off without ruining the plastic cover. It is at least as thick and hard as the plastic cover is.
My kids are still going crazy over the DVD ROM games. My wife had to hide the dvd from them actually. We had fun with the voice stuff.

OK, the insert (the one inside the case, not the outer one) lists as a bonus feature on disc one: "Uproarious Interviews with Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona, and Lord Farquaad."
Has anyone found the interview with Lord Farquaad? I didn't see it anywhere in John Lithgow's bio listing.

Hey, the upcoming Burton Planet of the Apes DVD is claiming to have 13 hours of stuff on it!
Don't know if that's supposed to be just the supplements, or include the movie, or what. David Prior, can you fill us in, please?
THEONERING.NET is claiming a different disc due for release next year will have 12 hours of supplements. The title is unnamed, so they are speculating that it is Fellowship of the Rings. Regardless of which title, it looks like the claim for "biggest supplements" will be an escalating battle for at least the near future...
