Due to the lack of activity around here lately, I thought I'd post a show-off thread to collect images/info of all the awesome subwoofer projects that have come through here in the last little while. Whether its sealed, ported, IB, whatever, I'd just like to see em all in one place. I'll start it off with my Tempest (which has been put sorely to shame by some of these new monster drivers that I'd love to see more of). Sig updated to a current link.

    Here's a pic of my Tempest (210L 19Hz tune):

    Let's see your bassmakers!

Edit: Mike, That's what I'm talking about!

I'm a disgrace to the DIY forum. [IMG]

I bought two commercial subwoofers instead of building one. :b

I've been waiting to post until I'm done, but since you asked ... you can see my still-in-progress infinite baffle at

    Here is my current sub:

260L 18" diameter ported sonosub using a 15" Adire Tempest driver tuned to just under 17Hz
    [IMG]

un-equalized frequency response of Tempest Sonosub
    [IMG]

Currently under construction into the stage under my screen are two side-by-side 13 cubic foot (370L) sealed enclosures, each will hold an 18" Ascendant Avalanche driver. (As they say... there is no replacement for displacement)

Nice work, keep em coming folks... I'm getting inspired already!

Mike, that is one serious IB you've got.

Seth, you shuold be ashamed of yourself! (kidding!!)

    Ryan, 4 Atlas 15's? I like it!!

Joe, your tube Tempest already beats mine for output, but the 18s in the stage look like they're going to be incredible. I've been following your thread and like where the design has gone.

Pete, I love your setup too, the LA's are beautiful and the soffit sub looks like a fantastic idea.

I wish my Shiva came here already. I plan a 12" shiva with an Xls 402 amp. I haven't decided the turning, but I might use eb3 so I can get under 20 hz and then get some kind of filter to make the response curved stabilize faster.

Couple months old, but here's my tumult:

    Tumult

I bought a 2400w pro amp to drive it, but I never even use it. It gets plenty loud off of my old 250w plate amp.

Here is a small computer sub I built using the Tang Band 6.5 in sub and this 70w plate amp. It's about 15"x12"x12" with a 1/2" slot port. This sub exceeded my expectations. It plays to the low 30s hz, fits nicely behind my monitor and sounds great with music and games.

The slot port is running vertically to the left of the plate amp. http://www.msnusers.com/joeyskinnerp...hoto&PhotoID=4

You guys have some seriously crazy stuff for bass. I don't have a subwoofer yet. I'm dying to start building one but i can't seem to find a place to get a good deal with shipping to canada for a plate amp and a decent driver.Anyone got any help for me on that one?
I wanted to build a sonotube sub and I checked the home depots and all the other hardware stores in my area and cannot find any tube larger than 12" diameter.
Building a box looks much more tricky with all the bracing involved. So i'm kinda sketchy about trying that.

Nice subs all of you have

You missed the closeout specials on the Ascendant Audio woofers. But Chris (Edit: That should have been "Chad") says they might sell off a few of their refurbs and I would assume they would go for even lower prices. Watch their website for the next couple of weeks. This would be a great deal even with the shipping/brokerage or whatever else you might have to pay.

Sorry Mike, I apparently abandoned my thread. But I'm in Toronto and I ordered from Creative sound (http://www.creativesound.ca/) and was very happy with them. I answered this same question a little while ago, don't remember if it was you or not, hopefully you've figured it out!

I'm a little late to the game but I'm always willing to show my work. A typical good ol' Tempest. Been pounding away for years now...

PS Mike, I'm from Canada and Creativesound is a good way to go.
