I was a big Abbott & Costello fan in my younger days, but I'm not sure I'll buy this BD boxset. I need to revisit some of these 28 films that I already have on DVD. I hate to buy 28 movies, but only end up watching 5-6 of them. I just moved that large DVD boxset I already own, but have not watched many of them on DVD.

I'm reservedly excited by this - my biggest "gripe" is it's from Shout! who consistently overprices their product. The current "pre order" price of ~$5 a movie is a steal... but I paid a measly $40 for the SS DVD box set (and jumped on it before Amazon could change their mind).

I've purchased most of these movies twice already - once in Uni's horrible DVD18 releases (and a couple of those twice due to defective discs discovered too late to get replacements), again with the SS box set, and some 3 or 4 (or 5 or 6?) times due to inclusion in the Universal Monsters sets. I guess it's time to break out the DVDs of "A&C Meet..." to see how they compare to the BR transfers on the Universal Monsters sets and decide if I need BR.

As much as I love A&C this may be a "Wait and see" purchase.

I have the entire DVD set.

I agree with Crawdaddy that there would probably only a few I would watch.

Unfortunately, Shout Factory titles rarely drop like Universal titles in price.

Wow! Didn't see this coming! I hope Buck Privates has an improved transfer, but, even if it doesn't, I still can't argue with the sheer volume of movies included (and now we know who got them, since Kino didn't have access when they made their deal)!! I'm certainly glad now I didn't grab any of the Universal releases already! I do wonder what this means for the likes of The World Of Abbott And Costello, Abbott And Costello Meet Jerry Seinfeld and Abbott And Costello Meet The Monsters, unless they end up as extras on this set (personally, I don't care about the latter two, but World would be nice to have).

Yeah, I'm kind of caught in the same quandary with Bob and Ron. I'm not sure what I'll do as I just pulled out both the large DVD boxset and the three DVD volumes that I bought years ago. I'm looking them over as I type this post. Hell, volumes 2 & 3 still haven't been opened.

Just picked up the DVD box at Amazon Prime Day for $30. That'll have to be it for now.

I’m also assuming Keystone Kops will be in it’s correct OAR.
I can't speak to this movie but Shout has released a few of the Universal 1950's sci-fi movies in their correct AR on Blu-ray that were only MAR on DVD. Based on that, I feel safe in assuming in that they will do them right here too.

This is great news. I don’t mind dipping into Abbot and Costello waters one last time.
Yeah, as much as I admire Bob's, Ron's, and Robert's takes on this (and can nod my head in intellectual agreement with them) who do I really think I'm kidding? I LOVE A&C and will definitely buy this no matter what! (I'm weak, you KNOW I'm weak!)

To be fair, I never said I wouldn't buy this BD release, I just stated that I don't know what I'm going to do right now.

Even though I've already double-dipped on these films, there's no way I'm not buying this. The boys are my favorite comedy team - by a mile - and I'm so ready to see all these movies on Blu. No way I'm passing this up.

I don't at all blame Shout or Universal for this not being in the set (it's not a Universal title afterall) but I really do wish someone could put out a decent version of Africa Screams - the very first A&C thing I ever saw. I wore out the VHS copy that was given to me when I was a kid, but haven't seen it in decades.

As for this set... I'm not as familiar with all of their films but this could very easily wind up on a Christmas list!

I just took a quick look at some of those movies from the 2004 and 2008 DVD releases. Talk about a need for some PQ improvement. I'll probably buy this BD set now. I need to watch a comedy for some laughs so I'm going to watch the BD of "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" either later today or early tomorrow morning.

I grew up with A&C and there are several titles I dearly love but I'd NEVER watch all the titles. Some of their work was just so very silly. I get bored.

I'm with you in wanting Africa Screams as well, preferably from somebody like Criterion who might do a great job of restoring it. And once again, we also find Universal getting out all of their releases for one of their comedy teams, with Warner falling behind (like with the Marx Brothers). Come on WAC, I hope some of them are coming (although I would be surprised if Abbott & Costello Meet Captain Kidd ever made it to Blu-ray)!
But I definitely want this set. While I agree that not all of them are great, there are enough films that I enjoy that it would be worth it (and I know I never saw It Ain't Hay since I got the original 4 DVD volumes released before they cleared that one, and haven't gotten around to seeing it yet, so that should hopefully be fun)!
