Should men shave their legs? Lately in my PE class I've been noticing almost all the (male) students in my class have their legs shaved. A few of them are atheletic, and most of them who have their legs shaved aren't. I wonder why men shave their legs? Do women think it's sexy (to the few women who DO visit this forum, please answer this question [IMG])? Are men shaving their legs cause it's the "cool" thing to do? I know some men shave their legs due to the sports they're in (like swimming), but why else would men shave their legs?
Do any of you (who are male, which make up 99.8% of the forum [IMG]) shave your legs?

I'm lucky to remember to shave the stubble growth from my moustache and minimal beard area each morning, that's enough for me.

before he died, my grandfather (who was a HUGE Russian man) always told me that if you have hairy legs... you will be successful in life... so I would never shave my legs.
... actually I know quite a few women in my school that DON'T shave their legs or arms... kinda that Amazon woman look [IMG] now, the underarms... I just don't think that works with women [IMG]

I did it once about 3 months ago because I was playing football and everyone was doing it. But after I was finished.... well, I didn't feel complete. However I do on occasion shave an area that most men don't and I do that because of personal preferance.

BTW - If you even hint that I MIGHT shave my ass, I will hunt you down and kill you. A man is only determined by the hairiness of his own ass.

Bicyclists shave their legs to facilitate massage and the cleanup of "road rash".

    I don't bother, though.

lol, no... well my friend did, but it was kind of a bet... if they lost some championship game, they'd shave their legs... so they did...

Whoah! What kind of school do you go to? [IMG]
I have always thought that a man who shaves his legs is shedding some of his manliness. They might feel nice and smooth, but that is why women shave their legs! So us men can caress their silky-smooth, long, sexy legs.
In otherwords, no it's not the cool thing to do. If it is, I guess I will be uncool.
But hey, to each his own!

Ryan - almost exactly my same reasons.
    Swimmer or Gay.
Funny thing though! As a teenager I got a case of, well
lets say they are popular in Baltimore. To make it easier
I shaved everything from my belly-button down. It was
not a feeling I enjoyed at all [IMG]. Plus
    maintaining this would be insane.

I have to shave my legs - you ever try wearing panty hose with unshaven legs? Bleah!

That is so bizarre. I was ruminating about the same thing, and all I could figure was that most of the Hollywood stars are promoting a shaven look. Just a sign of the times, and likely to go the way of the mutton chop and mohawks.

Leave it to the swimmers, I say.

Men shave their legs? A resounding no!
But I wouldn't be upset if they shaved their backs. [IMG]

Nope I can't say that I do. I know what Matthew is talking about though becuase at my school in P.E. class the light was shining off of this guys legs it was almost blinding. I started snickering and he flipped me off. Our school seems to have alot of swimmers to so that would explain some of them.

A lot of (straight) guys that I know wax their chest. The only reason is because it's in style. Take a look at fashion or fitness magazines - almost 99% of the time, the men don't have any hair on them.
But, I once lost a bet and let my ex-girlfriend wax off a square inch from one of my legs. (I cry just thinking about the pain.) [IMG]

Personally I dislike shorn legs and armpits (not to mention pubic areas) distasteful, on men or women. Certainly I think it would be unreasonable for you to be unwilling to shave your legs at the preference of your lover if at the same time you expect her to shave her legs. But I suppose there aren't many women out there that will want you to do that. Hopefully in time, the old-fashioned sexist expectation that women shave their legs and armpits will give a little. Anyhow, don't be surprised if more men and less women practice leg-shaving a century from now.

I waste enough time shaving my face in the mornings.
