My media room (used for watching TV (DirecTV HD-DVR, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD's, X-Box and Wii) currently has 5.1 speakers with the speakers being in-wall speakers: Russound Atmosphere SPA8W's see >>

I have ordered a new 7.1 receiver (needed more HDMI inputs and 7.1 seemed like a nice bonus). I can get two more of the Mirage Nanosat speakers for a pretty reasonable price to put the total to 7.

The question is; would the Mirage speakers give better sound for my situation (considering we never listen to music in the room) than the Russound ones? It would seem they would but barring running 7 more speaker wires and doing a back and forth test (which I am not excited about doing, up and down in the attic, a few hundred dollars in speaker cable, etc.) would provide better sound.

A side bonus would be no more sound being transmitted to the adjacent room where the 3 front speakers are mounted in wall now.

My other option is to simply replace the existing two rear Russound in wall speakers with the Mirage and add the other 2 surrounds for a total of 7. In other words, leave the front in wall Russounds and simply not use the existing rear in wall russounds.

Thoughts?

I myself have never really liked in-wall/ceilings, but I would suspect the new HT avr will give you better dynamics as it most likely has more power and I agree with you that not using the Russound system from the main media room would be better that way the other speakers are not in use. You could remove the media room speakers from the russound outputs to alleviate the load they put on the system and allow the other speakers to receive a little more power when needed.
