Should I replace my Sony 7700, and with what?

I'm getting a new HD widescreen RPTV to replace my 6.5 year old 4:3 50" RPTV.

My 7700 works just fine, but of course is not progressive scan.

Will an inexpensive PS player like Pan RP82 be better looking than my 7700 on my new RPTV, or do I have to spend more $$ on a PS player to better my SOny 7700?

    Thanks in advance

The 7700 was a fine machine, and while the new RPTV's line doubler might work just fine in many cases, the prog-scan output of a good DVD player is preferable. How about considering Sony's current top-of-the-line DVD player, the 9000ES?

Just the leap to Progressive Scan in the player itself will make a improvement due to better deinterlacers in the players.

I'd say newer players will look better than your 7700, but of course you won't get the solid build quality you get from your Sony.
