It looked packaged well and with cool extras. I've never took the time to view the show on CC. What kind of humor could it compare to? And is the 4-disc set worth it for $75.00? It seems a lot compared to Twin Peaks.

Kevin:

The "complete" collection, only covers Series 1 to 3. There is a separate 2 DVD set for AB FAB Series 4. Having said that, I only have Series 4, and it is a great show. It is funny, smart, well written and well acted. British humor is more caustic and dry that the tame American humor, so it may seen over the top at times. But I love it.

You should definitely give it a try.

Also be aware that the box does NOT contain "The Last Shout". (which ran between seasons 3 and 4)

I you think Season 4 was funny, then Seasons 1-3 will blow your mind...

if you like the line, "if the models get any younger, they'll be chucking a fetus down the runway", then you pick it up

It's worth the cash. It's a very funny and original series.

My personal favorite is :

leaving out the setup for those who'd like to experience it the first time...

Dahlings!

Absolutely Fabulous is a must-have. The writing is sharp and the humour is wonderfully over the top.

The original set (Series' 1-3) is excellent. All episodes are presented with wonderful transfers. There is about an hour's worth outtakes and a whole bunch of "gorgeous little things" on the 4th disc.

The new Series 4 set is even better. 16:9 enhanced for widescreen televisions (the show was shot in widescreen for Series 4), with commentary by Jennifer Saunders and Producer Jon Plowman for each episode. You also get more outtakes, the Mirrorball special and more fabulous things, sweetie!

Get some Bolly-Stolly, roll a joint and watch something Absolutely Fabulous, dahling.

James:

AB FAB Series 1 to 3, are definitely in my list. I may not buy them, as budget is tight, but I will at least rent the DVDs to watch the whole series. I also have the two French & Saunders DVDs, and I love them as well. The spoof on "Star Wars - Episode I" alone is worth the price of the DVD.

By the way:
If you fans of AB FAB want to see the original sketch that inspired the series, it is contained in the Gentlement Prefer French & Saunders DVD.
This, plus the inclusion of the spoof on Star Wars Episode I in the French & Saunders at the movies, make these two DVDs a must for AB FAB fans.

OK, I've gotta know what these two DVDs contain. I've searched all over the 'net and no where has any good info. If anyone could tell me what's included on

French & Saunders at the movies

and

Gentlemen Prefer French & Saunders

I would appreciate it

Thanks!

Dustin-
If no one else posts about French and Saunders,
I will do so. My copies of both were shipped
on Wednesday, but I may not get them for a week.
If you don't know much, here are some basics:
Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders created this
show, and a production company (which has subsequently
produced ABsolutely FABulous, even though
Dawn French's presence on-screen is reduced to a cameo
as a daytime chat host).
Dawn is also the star of the hillarious
Vicar of Dibley, which I am dying to
have on DVD.
Anyway, French & Saunders is a collection
of skits and spoofs. At The Movies,
spoofs, as one would guess, films.
There are some French and Saunders
skits on the current AB FAB DVDs.
In the season 1-3 box set (the ONLY way to go, really),
there is the skit that was the inception for
AB FAB with Dawn French playing the
part of Saffy.
On Series 4 set of AB FAB there
are two French & Saunders skits:
one that looks like the inception of the office
environment for AB FAB and the other
that is a spoof of Silence of the Lambs,
which had me rolling on the floor.
As for French and Saunders series itself...
French & Saunders often have great guest appearances.
Kate Moss often shows up as a model, juxtaposed to
French as a model! Recently, I saw a skit with
Helen Mirren that was a total riot.
To see their show, BBC America offers them, in
various time slots, usually Friday of Thursday
evenings...in 20 minute snippets.
Again, I'll post specifically what is on
these DVDs in this thread as soon as I get
them in my hands.
Cheers cheers, thanks a lot,
Mark

Thanks Mark! If no one else posts before you get the discs, I think it might even warrant a separate thread. There are probably plenty of people who would like to hear about these DVDs.

I've seen a little bit of French & Saunders. I saw the hilarious Episode 1 spoof they did. I would buy that DVD just for that skit alone! Marvelous!
