The walls are a warm red colour... I've heard it's best to have a neutral colour wall like white and blacks... but would it still be worth it to get a bias lighting kit? Would it make much difference having red walls? Any insight appreciated.
It would be for my 42" HDTV, wall mounted.

I just don't believe in putting light behind the TV. Some people probably do it because they think it looks "cool". As far as I'm concerned, the darker the room, the better.

People use it because it actually reduces eye fatigue, and also brings out the blacks more.

Yes, it does, that's what it is designed for. Maybe you should do a little research.

Also, people don't use them because they think it looks cool, they do it because bias lighting kits actually do reduce eye strain, and they can indeed change the way you perceive colours on the screen. Most advanced cinema system guides recommend them.
