Should high end players still exhibit mosquito noise? (1 Viewer)

I currently have a Marantz 9500 on loan from a dealer. So far, the PQ is excellent, save for mosquito noise during end credits or text screens of movies (e.g. opening sequence of Gladiator). Since mosquito noise is said to be an MPEG compression artefact, is this normal even on a high-end player, i.e. being a problem with the source and not the player?

The 9500 is indeed a high end player, but the video IMO is just average. See how Secrets ranked in comparison to very cheap players:
