I know the issues involved in shipping new stuff from US to Canada - taxes, duty, etc. But what about used, private sales? I'm buying used speakers from someone in the States. I'm buying direct from the guy, not from a store. Can I expect any taxes, duties, tarrifs, etc to affect me?

    Thanks for any help,

    Henning

Expect to pay both tax's on the declared value plus possible duty on that value as well. If you ship via UPS exepct the duty fee's to be quite hefty...for that reason I'd suggest going with USPS instead...they are a little slower but much cheaper once boarder fee's are added in. Basically you pay duty and tax's based on the decalred value. Now you might think well I'll just have them declared as $10 then but remember that you can't add more insurance then the decalred value so its a trade off between expense and security.
