shifting room 90 degrees (1 Viewer)

I ahve been thinking about shifting my viewing area in my home theater 90 Degrees.
Ther room is 21'X14' with the entire left side open to the rest of the finished basement.
THe TV is currrently set up the a 14' wall with the couch about 14' from it. I was thinking about putting the open wall behind me and putting the TV on the 21' wall.
Any thoughts? Is this a mistake? I figure that worse case is that I waste about any hour or two and have to put everything back

This is a better layout IMO because you have more speaker positioning flexibility for better soundstaging.

Greg,
Do you mean the current of possible new layout.
The only problem I can see with the new layout would be the surround placement. The open side has a staircase going downstairs and there is a tapering wall as a room divider.

The possible new layout. As I understand it, right now the LH main and LR surround has no corner, a severe left-right channel imbalance. At least with the new layout, the mains will have complimentary boundaries, and the surrounds will too, though different from the mains.
