i'm looking for an inexpensive, but well shielded f-type coax cable. 3-10 feet in length and under $10. any suggestions?

i have a standard RCA-brand one that's 50' (got it for $2...what a steal!) but it's delivering a picture quality that looks like scat porn alot of the time. when i move it around the signal improves; i'm thinking that b/c it's near my computer and power supplies that interferance is making the picture undiscernable. i've verified that the signal from the wall is good by use of a friend's tv on the same circuit.

    thanks in advance!

Just go to Radio Shack and buy one, or cut the 50 foot cable down and attach a F connector.

That 50' cable is the problem. You probably have coils of it lying around that both messes up the signal, and acts like a giant antenna. Thats why moving it around changes the picture.

And dont think a "Monster" cable with better shielding is going to help. A shield simply connects an antenna to your equipment ground. If you have tons of electrical interference, it is contaminating your electronics even with "modest shielding".

Cut the 50' coax so that it travels away from your high-power devices, but without coils. My guess is that this should be all you need.

went to RS today and got a $10 'Gold Series' cable (6 feet). same result, but a little better (lemme try to explain): the picture will sporatically go to looking like a scattered cable signal (full audio is intact though) for periods of time that can be from 1 minute to 1 hour long. it'll just go between this sometimes without me touching anything. the cable isn't looped up or anything. lemme also clarify that it's hooked up to a WinTV tuner on my computer, so i cant avoid passing by the high drain devices. the power strip is close to the wall outlet and there is a mini-fridge next to the outlet as well. i have no way to move any of this stuff around, sadly. the computer is about one foot from the wall socket, so tomorrow i'm gonna see if i can get an even shorter length of cable. if this fails, am i SOL or do i have another option? is there a way to increase the shielding of the cable?
