I am looking at purchasing a new receiver, was looking at the Sherwood r-965 but I am skeptical due to the caution they give on the the speaker impedance when running surround speakers a&b. They say you should use speakers with impedance ratings over 12 ohms on surroud b.
Can anyone tell me if this should concern me? What would you recommend for receiver in the 2000 to 2500 Canadian dollar range. Thanks in advance.

Jeff the manual isn't written very clearly about their a&b instal as I doubt very many people would ever bother setting up a system like that. What is more typical is to set up the two side speakers directly to either side of your listening position and then add two more rear surrounds. When set up like this there is no need for the A/B surround switch and the speakers could all be 6 ohm or higher...the fronts could likely be 4 ohm without much of a concern either. If you've got any questions please email me or post a question in Club Sherwood.
