    I just bought a Sony Receiver - STR-DE685 http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...TRE685&o=m&a=0 and using a sound blaster live x-gamer http://www.americas.creative.com/sup...ic=292&sub=270 with a hoontech dbIII addon http://www.hoontech.com/english/prod...bdb3/info.html
I have a ati all in wonder radeon graphics card http://mirror.ati.com/products/pc/aiwradeon/index.html . i connect from the db3 to the receiver using a optical cable. i have tried running win dvd and power dvd and i cant get the receiver to see that it is in Dolby Digital or in DTS. but it does play sound thru the optical cable. Can anyone point me in the right direction or help me??

Tyler, did you select SPDIF-Out in the WinDVD and PowerDVD sound perferences? If not, you will still hear the sound through the digital output but the respective DVD softwares will downgrade it to 2 channels so I assume this is your problem. If you have SPDIF-Out enabled and it is still not working, make sure that if you use Win2k you have at least Service Pack 2 and the latest Soundblaster Live drivers installed.
