Setup Harman Kardon AVR 255 amplifier after a long time of not in use (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone, I would for help with something, my dad would like to reuse his amplifier that is connecting to his current tv but it wasn't in use for about 8 years (the amplifier is still connecting to the tv) so he doesn't remember how to use it and how to connect it to a computer so we would like for a help to hook this up to a computer that's connected to a tv

The amplifier is Harman Kardon AVR 255 and it hooked up to 5 surround speakers

I've read the manuel but we didn't completely understand how to connect it.. we tried to connect the TV to the hdmi out port and the computer to the hdmi in port but it didn't work.. maybe we didn't understand it correctly..
